Is this the same as traditional speech therapy?
Not at all! While we are licensed speech-language pathologists, our expertise goes beyond traditional speech therapy.
At Rooted Speech and Myo, we specialize in orofacial myofunctional therapy, which requires extensive training and knowledge beyond our degree. This training focuses on how the muscles of the mouth, tongue, and face work together for breathing, chewing, swallowing, speaking, and even sleep.
We take a whole-body, collaborative approach, often working closely with dentists, ENTs, orthodontists, bodyworkers, sleep specialists, and other providers to address the root causes of oral muscle patterns and related concerns—not just the symptoms.
Sessions are at our office located at: 2400 Lakeside Blvd., Ste. 115 Richardson, TX 75082
For eligible clients, we offer teletherapy.
Every person is unique and requires different a timeframe in order to reach their goals. Our goal is to help you or your child progress through therapy as quickly as possible. The duration of therapy also highly depends on dedication to daily practice at home.
Therapy sessions are 1:1 and highly individualized. Session frequency and duration depend on individual needs. However, they are typically 1-2x/week and last 30 minutes.
Is myofunctional therapy provided in my child's school?
Myofunctional therapy is a highly specialized service that typically isn’t offered in schools. While your child may receive speech therapy at school, myofunctional therapy requires advanced training and techniques that are typically only available in private practice.
At Rooted Speech and Myo, we not only provide this specialized care, but we also collaborate with medical professionals—such as ENTs and tongue-tie release providers—to address root causes and ensure your child receives comprehensive, whole-body support.
YES! Orofacial myofunctional disorders affect people across the lifespan from infants through adulthood. We love partnering with adults to help relieve symptoms and provide holistic care. We provide teletherapy services for your convenience!
